A family share plan allows a whole family or friends to share a wireless phone plan. Our family has 3 phones on the same plan through Verizon Wireless. We each have our own cell phone and we get to share minutes. We have the Nationwide 900. We also get to call and text each other for free so it is a pretty good deal.
Before we all shared a family cell phone plan, I had my own individual verizon wireless phone and plan. My wife had a Virgin Mobile prepaid phone. Our son was not old enough and didn't need a cell phone, though I'm sure he'd disagree.
Overall the plan features and service is high quality. If we didn't have a family wireless plan we would probably pay 50 or 60 bucks more on our monthly cell phone bill.
