Using a Verizon Family Share Plan to Get All Your Phones on One Bill

There are many benefits to having a family share plan for your cell phones. You can save money, as most cell phone family plans have a base price for the first 2 phones and a small add-on price ( typically around $10/mo) for each additional phone. This can really work out well, especially if you don't use your phones for calling a lot during peak times.

For example, the Verizon Wireless Family Plan offers plans starting at 1400 shared minutes with an option of unlimited texting. If you have 4 or 5 phones, you can save a lot per line. If you didn't know, at 1400 or more minutes you also get to choose up to 10 phone numbers to count as your "Friends and Family." When you call these numbers, the minutes do not count against your allowance. In fact, minutes are completely "free" if you call each other or anyone else with Verizon Wireless. Nights and Weekends are also free. So the only minutes that count against your allowance are for calling numbers that are: Not on Verizon, Not on your Friends and Family, and Not at night or on the weekend.

I read an interesting blog post about a family of 4 who used their Verizon Wireless Family Plan for keeping a home phone number. What they did was, instead of dropping their home phone number completely, they just made it the 5th line on their family plan. They saved money by not paying their local phone company anymore, but they kept the number they had for 10 years as the house phone.
